I bought castings of an original NE gun from Reaves Gorhing. Although it is a casting from an original it was not from a Welcome Mathewson made gun. The butt plate on the right shows the curve as cast. I was concerned it curved to much and had Roy straighten the one on the left just a tad. |

Here it is in the process of being cleaned up. You can see the bolt Roy soldered to it to hold the plate while filing it. |

We both decided the trigger guard which was cast from the same gun as the butt plate was, was not a good fit for this rifle. So Roy went to work modifying a trigger guard that was close but not exactly what we wanted. |

Roy cut 1/2" out of the middle of the rail and took 1/4" off the front of the bow. Also a lot of filing to get to this point. |
